Sir Issac Newton also was an eminent practitioner of astrology. For Dante astrology was the noblest of all sciences.

Lord Muruga, the son of Lord Siva and Goddess Parvati and Commander in Chief of the Army of the Gods, is believed to be the originator of conventional eastern astrology.This belief is rejected by Umayena All Religious Astrology which considers Goddess Uma or Parvati as the pioneer from whose sacred tongue this was first heard by mankind.The legends say that once Her holy Self felt the need for empowering man with this skill.This was consequent on a bit of sympathy that she developed for two of her most beloved devotee saints,Yerishabha and Aarishabha.Despite being the favourites of the Gods and inspite of all their spiritual pursuits,these holy men were not able to foresee human destiny in its totality. On this they entreated the help of Goddess Parvati. Aroused by the saints’genuine concern, the Goddess made up her mind that she must come to their aid.So she discussed the matter with Lord Siva and the Lord instructed her appropriately.On the strength of this, the Goddess gave shape to Umayena Jyothisham which Her Holy Self passed on to Yerishabha and Aarishabha by word of mouth.The saints later became the propagators of this system. Hence it can be believed beyond question that Umayena Jyothisham is the most ancient form of Astrology here in India. What Lord Muruga later popularized might be what he would have gained from hisown mother. It is said that there are historical records which stand testimony to the drawn out travels of Yerishabha and Aarishabha with an eye on spreading this divine knowledge in all nooks and corners.Yerishabha wandered all through northen India and conducted his Umayena astrological sessions at Uttara Kasi or the present day Benares. During his last days he was living in his hermitage at Pataliputra or the present day Patna.Aarishabha traveled far and wide in north eastern part of the Indian sub continent. He was given a red carpet welcome in all households by kings,nobles and commoners. Often he was huddled around by multitudes who were so eager to hear from him about their future life.In course of time he had many disciples who carried on his mission.Specific details of his last days are not available.
